The Michigan Community College Leadership Academy is faciliated by the MCCA and Lead Star.  It is designed for faculty and mid- to senior-level community college administrators who look to be leaders in their current positions or are ready to move into a higher level of leadership. Vice Presidents, Deans, Professors, Associate Professors, Program Chairs, Associate Deans, or Directors are encouraged to apply if interested in developing their leadership skills. Participants must be nominated by their president or chancellor.

The nine month cohort-style learning journey will include three in-person workshops at the MCCA office, action-based learning projects in between the live sessions, experiential learning activities, coaching and mentoring, and a capstone graduation experience in conjunction with the annual MCCA Summer Conference in Mackinac Island.

It is important to note that the Leadership Academy is not meant to replace graduate or Ph.D. programs, but it is rather a hands-on, Michigan-specific professional development opportunity to sharpen leadership competencies and develop a strong statewide network of emerging leaders within community colleges. Graduates are asked to serve as mentors for the next cohort of emerging leaders.

The MCCA is accepting nominations for the 2017-18 emerging leader class.  Candidates must be nominated by their president or chancellor.  Please complete and submit the nomination form via email to Adriana Phelan, MCCA Vice President (aphelan@mcca.org) by April 28, 2017.
